The S.S. Dunebuggy

Reflection

Our balloon powered car is a large zip-lock bag container made of cardboard. It is about  7 centimeters tall and  19 centimeters wide. It originally was not a fast design, but we cut the sides, front and back to reduce air resistance, causing the car to move faster. We named it the S.S. Dune buggy, because to us, it seemed like the low riding design of a dune buggy. It is constructed from four CD's, four bottle caps, a lot of hot glue, two straws, two skewers, and some masking tape. The whole idea for creating these cars is to reduce the amount of negative resistance affecting them, which in theory, would make the car go faster. We made the car lighter to have it less affected by gravity, to make it go faster.  This project helped us incredibly to grasp the concept of the seven forces and how they affect life. It is very important to understand these forces, because they will answer many of the fascinating questions you have about daily life. This project was a complete success and we felt that we learned so much, also about beginner mechanics and automobile design.
